Teachin with Primary in da deep Dangriga!

It’s hard to believe that project is now two thirds complete, as the primary crew has just completed our second week of teaching in Dangriga. Ali and Jenna taught in San Roman at United Community Primary School, while Hilary and Jeff were over at Independence Primary School. For both of the teaching pairs, it was a nice change of pace to get out of the city and experience new and vibrant teaching atmospheres. What made the week even […]

10 jars of peanut butter later…

Where did the past two weeks go?! Today the Secondary Crew departed from the Smokin Balam in Belize City, and headed North to Orange Walk Town.  We would like to send a huge thank you to Anna and Jose from the Smokin Balam, as they were wonderful hosts for our stay in Belize City.  Our favourite evening at the Smokin Balam would have to be the evening when Anna taught us how to make a traditional Belizean meal (rice and […]

Third week’s the charm for Primary!

To break up the mornings we created a “show and tell” period where the girls can […]

Dangriga will most definitely be missed – all the students we’ve had the opportunity to teach, the friendly atmosphere, the family who owns the Chaleanor and the delicious food (especially Evan’s all time favorite: the burritos at “Da Grill”) contributed to an unforgettable two weeks. Our farewell was bittersweet as though Dangriga will be missed we are super excited about continuing project in Belize City!  Evan and Georgia must admit that they enjoyed having access to coffee in the morning this week […]

Primary Teechaz Gat Yur Bak

With a successful second week complete, the Primary Crew learned to appreciate the 6am sunrise bus rides out to the Mayan villages of San Antonio and Big Falls in the Toledo district. Our Project Director Erica spent two days at each of the schools giving the two Primary teaching pairs some final lesson feedback before heading off and leaving the four Primary Peer Educators on their own for the next month of project. Erica has been with us since day […]
